Human Resource Management (HRM) is the strategic approach and function within an organization that focuses on managing the human resources (employees) to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. It involves a wide range of activities and responsibilities related to the people working in the organization, including recruitment, hiring, skill training, management, ability, career, employee relations, and more.
Definition Human Resource Management (HRM):
Human Resource management defines the process of recruiting, selecting, induction processing, orientation conducting, training and development process assuring, appraising the employees, deciding their pay scale, ensuring the safety of the employees, healthy relations with the employees, motivating the workforce, complying with all the standards, also maintain good terms with the trade unions.
Human Resource Management deals with the managerial functions like planning, organizing, directing and controlling.
It deals with procurement of human resource , training & development and maintenance of human resource.
It helps to achieve individual, organizational and social objectives
Functions of Human Resource Management:
The functions of HRM are heavy role, the whole organization is somewhat dependent on this department as they connect with the workforce, the lifeblood of the business.
Recruitment and Selection:
Recruitment is the process of inviting, screening, and selecting the required, potential and qualified candidates based on the job vacancy.
Orientation:
Orientation is the fundamental step to guide a new employee to adjust himself to the work environment of the business. Here an employee is introduced with objectives and goals of the organization and how he can serve to achieve the long-term and short-term goals of the organization.
Maintaining Good Working Conditions:
Human resource management provides good and healthy working conditions for the employee so that they are inclined to like the workplace and the environment.
Managing Employee Relations:
Employees are the supporting pillars of any successful organization hence their relationship is a crucial function of human resource management.
Training and Development:
Training always goes hand in hand with development, they are the indispensable functions of human resource management. They attempt to improve the current and future performance of an employee by enhancing their skills.
The scope of Human Resource Management is extremely wide, However, for the sake of convenience and developing an understanding of the subject, it is elaborated as follows.
1. Human Resource Planning:
Human Resource Planning refers to a process by which the company tries to find the number of jobs vacancy in which a particular department and The number of staff required with the necessary qualification and experience.
2. Job analysis design:
Another important area of Human Resource Management is job analysis. Job analysis gives detailed information about the job description and employee specifications in the company.
3 Recruitment and selection:
Based on information collected from job analysis the company prepares advertisements and publishes them in the newspapers, Employment sites, etc. This is recruitment. A number of applications are gathered after the advertisement is published, interviews are conducted and the right employee is selected for the right post and right time thus recruitment and selection are yet another important areas of Human Resource Management.
4. Orientation and induction :
Once the employees have been selected an induction or orientation program is conducted. The employees are informed about companies’ backgrounds, products, different subsidiaries’ organizational culture and values, and work ethics and introduced to the new employee to other employees.
5. Training and development:
Every employee goes into a training program which helps him to put up a better performance on the job. The training program is also conducted for existing staff that have a lot of experience. This is called refresher training. Training and development is one area where the company spends a huge amount.
6. Performance appraisal:
Once the employee has put on the job performance appraisal is conducted that is the Human Resources department checks the performance of the employee. Which helps appraise future promotions, incentives, increments in salary, etc
7. Compensation planning and remuneration:
There are various rules regarding compensation and other benefits. It is the job of the Human Resources department to look into remuneration and compensation planning.8. Motivation, welfare, health, and safety

Apart from this certain health and safety regulations have to be followed for the benefit of the employees.

Another important area of Human Resource Management is maintaining co-ordinal relations with the union members. with employer-employee, and employee- employee This will help the organization to coordinate with one another for smooth working.
